‘Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (“Toyota”) provided me with compensation and use of Toyota Corolla Hybrid for a short period of time. The opinions I have shared about this vehicle are my own.’
Introducing the all new 2020 Toyota Corolla Hybrid. It’s the first ever Corolla Hybrid, and it’s everything you can imagine plus more! After 50 years of just Toyota Corolla, we get a version that’s so fitting for this generation! I had the pleasure of driving this beauty from Miami to Pompano Beach to attend this year’s Gridiron Grill Off Festival (More on my Instagram story highlights – Toyota 2020). My friend and I made a stop at West Palm Beach’s Worth Avenue to capture all the details of this car.
All my life I’ve driven a Toyota car. My current car is Toyota Prius, so I’m very familiar with hybrids. I really didn’t expect to be surprised by any new Hybrid cars. But the new 2020 features completely shocked me! For the affordable price, this car has way too much to offer! Let me share with you what I learned.
This is what everyone wants to know first – the mileage. Toyota Corolla Hybrid has an estimated 52 combined mpg, the highest ever for Corolla. It also comes with an enhanced hybrid battery warranty. All 2020 model year Toyota Hybrid Battery will now increase from 8 years or 100,000 miles to 10 years or 150,000 miles!
I was completely in awe with the latest tech features in the Toyota Corolla Hybrid. The Standard Apple Car Play compatibility, enables the car to connect with an iPhone, so you can easily connect with Siri for directions, messages, and calls. Eight inch touch-screen display is such a beauty in the Toyota Corolla Hybrid. Oh, and the car is also compatible with Amazon Alexa. With this feature, you can unlock doors, and start your engine!
Toyota Safety Sense™
Some of the safety features in the new Toyota Corolla Hybrid are – Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection which provides an audio/visual alert with the help of camera and radar system to detect any preceding car or pedestrian. Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist helps driver who’s not taking corrective steering action, the car automatically provides a gentle corrective steering to keep the vehicle in lane. Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, with a radar behind the Toyota badge and a camera on the windshield designed to adjust speed, the car can maintain a preset distance from the car in front. Lane tracing Assist, uses the lines on the road and preceding vehicles to position the vehicle centered. Road Sign Assist, uses the forward-facing camera to detect speed limit signs, stop signs, do not enter signs and yield signs which is then displayed on the MID (Multi-Information Display).
The car is equipped with eight standard airbags. Every new Toyota will now come with the Star Safety System and no cost maintenance plus road side assistance for up to 2 years or 25,000 miles.
The color of this car is Celestite. A color that I’ve personally never seen on a car. It is a very pretty blue-grayish tone. My drive from Miami to Pompano to West Palm Beach and then back to Miami only used up a little less than half a tank. Total miles driven was 300! The ride was smooth, and having the feature to display the map on the screen had me strictly focus on the drive and not look at my phone screen.
