Hello Miamians, get excited! Custo Barcelona is opening their second location at the Dadeland Mall. I had a chance to meet Custo Dalmau Designer of Custo Barcelona at his Lincoln Road Mall’s store location. An extremely down to earth person, Custo Dalmau made everyone who entered his store feel like family. Scroll down to see all the fabulous pictures from the store event and read my interview with Custo Dalmau about his NYFW collection and future happenings in Miami.

Can you tell me a little bit about how you got started?

We started almost 34 years ago by printing graphic on T-shirts. My brother David and I were into graphic design and it all started from there.

How was your NYFW Fall Presentation this year?

The collection is called “Shake Before You Use,” we wanted to create a contemporary line by shaking the classical world of tartan and checks to accommodate any patterns. The collection comes from a very classical concept.  We created many multi-layer looks by combining dresses, coats and sweaters.

Custo Barcelona is known for colors and prints. Have you ever considered doing neutral looks?

No, because colors are prints are what we are known for. But, we do mix neutral with prints sometimes.

Where are some of your stores located?

We actually had a plan to open our next Miami store in Dadeland Mall today, but came across a minor permitting issue. The store is now set to open in March 2015. Custo Barcelona stores are located all over the world, from New York, Las Vegas, Puerto Rico, Europe and of course Miami.

What is Custo Barcelona known for?

We design and create everything. Our line carries dresses, coats, shoes, handbags swimwear, menswear, you name it. We created a brand culture that is very popular.

What’s your plan for the NYFW in September?

We already started working for the next fashion week. It’s fast paced industry and we have a lot of work to do. It’s good to start early.

I ended the sweet and short interview with suggesting that he bring a dazzling Custo Barcelona show to Miami Swim Week. Here’s hoping we see his resort & swimwear line here in July!
