On the Road with 2016 Volkswagen Beetle Denim

My first time ever driving a Volkswagen car! When it was time to get my first car in high school, I remember asking my parents for a VW Beetle. Well, my parents had something else in mind. My first car was my dad’s hand-me-down gas guzzling SUV. When I partnered up with Volkswagen to test drive their newest model, I knew I would live my high school dreams of looking cool in my top down Beetle. It was extra special because I had the chance to drive their special edition VW denim convertible.

I love road trips. It allows me to get a full sense of the car that I’m driving and also discover new places. I started to Google to find hidden picturesque places in Florida. My research led to me a list of amazing places. I know we can’t cover everything just yet. My friend and I decided to start with something a “little closer” to Miami and headed to Gainesville, Florida.

Fun fact: This limited-edition Volkswagen Beetle Denim is a tribute to their Beetle Jeans model from the 1970’s. I wanted to get transported to that beautiful carefree 70’s era, so I drove this Beetle Denim to a cute little retro town called Micanopy . It’s a fifteen minute drive from Gainesville. Micanopy is known as the ‘The Little Town that Time Forgot.’

Driving this new Stonewashed Blue Beetle Denim definitely turned a lot of heads. At certain angles and light it almost looks gray, sometimes Silver. The convertible top is dark blue with patterns similar to a jeans fabric. The inside of the car features jeans-inspired seat pockets with details again resembling your favorite pair of jeans. The dashboard’s light blue and silver trim gives the car a chic vintage look.

In case you’re wondering – no, it does not feel like you’re driving in your jeans. It feels comfortable and safe! When I was driving on the highway,  once in a while I did forget that I was driving a little car. The car rides pretty smooth and can pick up speed if you’re not careful. I didn’t expect this car to have so much power! While at Micanopy we put the top down, let our hair flow, turned up our Spotify via Bluetooth and soaked in the early morning light. It was almost a spiritual experience driving in this car through the hidden roads of Micanopy.
