Travel Spot: Coral Castle in Homestead, Florida April 11, 2015
Another gorgeous travel spot in my neighborhood. I started chronicling some must-visit places in Homestead, after my move almost a year ago. See travel spot post about strawberry picking at Burr’s Berry Farm, have some delicious smoothies at Phil’s Berry Farm and have a zen day at Redland Koi Pond. In this post I’m excited to share my visit to Coral Castle. These beautiful photos were taken by Janel Kilnisan.
Coral Castle was built by Edward Leedskalnin. He single-handedly carved out over 1,100 tons of coral rock to create this must-see place. Leedskalnin charged visitors ten cents a head to tour the castle, now you can take your own tour at this place for $15 a person. The story behind the castle is really beautiful. While heading inside the Coral Castle, a sign, carved into stone reads “You will be seeing unusual accomplishment.” It is quite unusual and mysterious.
Wearing: Forever 21 Dress (Similar here), Vida Kush & Pacsun Necklaces & Traffic Shoe gladiator flats (similar here).
Coral Castle is open everyday, located at the intersection of South Dixie Highway (U.S. 1) and SW 157th Avenue. Coral Castle address: 28655 S Dixie Hwy, Homestead, FL 33033.
